What a vibe! The restaurant interior design is so nice, dark and mysterious. Great for a first date or a group date where you can share multiple dishes. I went here for a team outing and it was such a great decision. The staff was so helpful with explaining the dishes and helping us select the best one. We ordered 7-8 plates and everything came out as it was ready, which gave us time to fully enjoy each meal. It is pricy but I do think it's worth it. Its a great location and plenty of food to share. Would go back again!

The ambiance here was excellent, but the food was only okay for the price. We were crammed into our table for 6. Our waitress was excellent. Overall, it was a little overhyped but it was still a neat experience.

Amazing service with great recommendations and explanations of the menu. A nice lively setting that complemented the food.

Chinese Tuxedo had a polarizing reputation from those who recommended it to me - some raved about it, others said it didn't live up to the hype - so I had to check it out for myself. Came here with a reservation which was relatively easy to secure. The ambience here is great - it's fairly dimly lit but the decor is beautiful. We were quickly seated and introduced to the menu in exquisite detail. Every dish was done well - we tried the hamachi crudo (delicious, tender), shu mai (trout roe was the best part of this), snow pea leaves (a great foil for the rest of the meal), dan dan noodles (pretty solid, noodles were excellent texture), and crab noodles (one of my favorites of the night). But the standouts by far to me were the fried eggplant - haven't ever had anything taste like this before but with a perfectly sweet and crunchy outside texture mixed with a soft and tender (and hot!) inside, and the pork belly - not anything I *hadn't* had before but maybe some of the best cooked pork belly I've had. Overall, this place was an absolute hit. I thoroughly enjoyed my experience here and when back in the city will keep this place in mind for me to visit again.

This place is really hip and trendy inside, but the food was disappointing. We ordered the hamachi, shrimp toast, dumplings, and Dan Dan noodles (which are topped with an egg yolk) and couldn't finish any of them bc we really didn't like any of them. All a bit too modern and fusion-y.

first time here great place to handout good drinks and expensive foods taste was not bad

Chris hooked our drinks up! Delicious crafted cocktails and they're so beautiful and tasty! Definitely check. It out, hidden but a gem.

This is a great date night spot. (We loved sitting in a cozy booth upstairs.) The food and drinks were great, though we definitely ordered way too much for two people. Expect big portions! While everything was super tasty, the fried rice was definitely a favorite with the special crunchies they add in.

Chinese Tuxedo has effortlessly secured its place among the top 10 restaurants in my culinary journey, offering an extraordinary dining experience that encompasses impeccable ambiance, delectable food, stellar service, and exceptional drinks. This hidden gem is truly a gem, and my recent visit with my brother during the week was nothing short of amazing. From the moment we were seated in the main dining area, the ambiance of Chinese Tuxedo enveloped us in an atmosphere of sophistication and charm. To kick off our culinary adventure, we started with the Hamachi, a crudo elevated to new heights by the best sauce I've ever had. My brother and I found ourselves savoring every last bit of the plate, relishing the perfect harmony of flavors with the addition of rice pearls. The Lobster & Shrimp Sesame Toast that followed was a revelation. The toast, cooked to perfection, redefined my understanding of what perfect toast tastes like. The combination of lobster and shrimp, coupled with the delicate sesame notes, created a dish that was nothing short of extraordinary. The Crispy Pork & Chive Dumplings were a delight, showcasing the culinary prowess of the kitchen. Each bite was a symphony of flavors, and it was evident that careful craftsmanship went into every detail. While the Crispy Eggplant received recommendations, it turned out to be my least favorite due to its overly breaded nature. However, the redeeming quality was the accompanying sauce, which added a burst of flavor that was noteworthy. To conclude our culinary journey, we indulged in the Squid Ink Noodles, a dish that stood out for its uniqueness and exquisite taste. Each element of the meal, from start to finish, left an indelible mark on our palates. Ultimately, the Hamachi and Lobster & Shrimp Sesame Toast emerged as our favorites, showcasing the culinary excellence that Chinese Tuxedo embodies. It's rare for me to revisit the same restaurant in NYC, but Chinese Tuxedo has earned a permanent spot on my list of recommendations for any guests visiting the city. If you're seeking an unforgettable culinary experience, look no further than the remarkable offerings of Chinese Tuxedo.
